Tarkington ISD board approves professional contract renewals and Chapter 21 actions

The Tarkington ISD Board of Trustees on April 20 approved one‑year contract renewals for professional staff and ratified renewals, retirements, and terminations of Chapter 21 contracts for campus principals and assistant principals.

Board President Lane Gulledge reconvened the meeting after a closed session that included personnel deliberations. In open session the Board recorded a motion by Paige Bostwick, seconded by Kevin Johnson, to approve the one‑year renewals; the vote was recorded as Yea: 6, Nay: 0, Absent: 1. A separate motion by Susan Rollins, seconded by Jason Ward, approved renewals and other Chapter 21 contract actions for elementary, middle, and high‑school leadership across campuses; that motion also passed by a 6–0 recorded tally.

The Board took up new‑hire recommendations and accepted resignations and terminations in a subsequent motion (moved by Jason Ward, seconded by Susan Rollins), which likewise passed by recorded roll call. The Board also approved delegating hiring and contracting authority to the Superintendent for teaching and counseling vacancies through Aug. 31, 2026 (motion by Susan Rollins, seconded by Paige Bostwick), a motion recorded as Yea: 5, Nay: 1, Absent: 1.
