Administrator McCafferty presented Mayor and Council with a list of projects proposed to be funded by leftover capital-ordinance monies from prior appropriations. Suggested uses included a new street sweeper and replacement vehicles for Police, Public Works and Recreation. Council members commended McCafferty for locating these funds and discussed using them to fulfill outstanding equipment requests.
Council noted that after those funds are allocated the only remaining 2024 capital requests would be building repairs for Fire Company #1 and replacement SCBA bottles and masks for the Fire Department. Chief Carl Ennis provided input on SCBA timeline and Council discussed whether those items could be moved into the 2025 budget process. Administrator McCafferty said auditors would complete the audit the week of Aug. 19, at which point the CFO could supply a debt statement and clearer figures.
