Pitman council says extra school patrols deployed after regional anonymous threats

Councilwoman Milward told the Borough Council that an anonymous threat to schools in Gloucester and Camden counties prompted an immediate local response, though Pitman schools were not directly threatened. "The PPD is a zero-tolerance department with respect to the safety of the residents and visitors to our amazing little town!" Milward said, adding that added patrols were sent to all Pitman schools as a precaution and would continue through the week.
Milward thanked Chief McAteer, Deputy Chief Zander, Lieutenant Streater and SRO/PO Peter Stefanopoulos for coordinating the response and noted cooperation with the Pitman Board of Education and school administration. The council did not take any new policy votes on school safety at the meeting but emphasized ongoing coordination between police and schools.
