Engineer: awarded bids within budget; DeWolf Road and drainage work to finish multi‑year DOT project

Tom, the borough engineer, told council that the two projects for which bids were awarded came in within budget. He said the Harry/Perry Street drainage Phase 2 work will focus on finishing drainage in backyards and easements and that contractor meetings will be held with property owners to minimize disruption.
On DeWolf Road Section 7, Tom said the work is the final phase of a multi-year DOT-funded corridor program. He described completing drainage at the golf course edge and short-duration milling and paving operations that may result in brief lane closures but not a full long-term closure: "this will be a couple hours on 2 different days to mill and to pave." He added that the project used remaining DOT funds and was under budget.
The engineer also reviewed proposed crosswalk locations (near the high school entrance at Elena/Aida; Chestnut/Central; and Winding Creek) and recommended advanced-warning flashing signs at the Winding Creek location near the school. County coordination is required for crosswalk installation and ADA ramp work.
Why it matters: these infrastructure projects address localized drainage issues, complete a long-running DOT corridor project, and include safety improvements near schools.
