Under Superintendent Reports, Mr. Spencer told trustees that several members of the leadership team met with ESC 14 officials to discuss improvement plans and that the Texas Education Agency is scheduled to visit on Oct. 28; the district must have its improvement plan implemented by that time. Kevin Stoker reported that department heads are serving as mentors and are pushing for higher levels among staff. Mr. Spencer also said several teachers still have concerns regarding curriculum.
Scott Cottenior addressed the Board about an update to the student dress code, saying many girls were wearing leggings with short tops that exposed "too much." He said the updated change concerns tops: "They now must be fingertip length, tp make sure everything is covered." The minutes record the policy change but do not print a revised dress-code ordinance; trustees did not record a motion to adopt a written policy in the minutes.
