Paulsboro borough council voted to approve a letter of support for a cannabis retail application seeking State approval for a Type Class 5 retail store at 2001 S. Delaware Street.
Applicant Kati Mangione of Egg Harbor Township told the council that the proposed store would be located in a manufacturing-zoned area, would serve customers 21 and older (“Customers are 21 years old, no kids allowed.”), operate roughly 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, and will have one armed guard on the premises. Solicitor Maley said the filing met the State’s requirements and that the proposed gross tax to the borough is 2.5 percent of sales.
Council President Thomas moved and Councilman Singleton seconded a motion to approve a letter of support for Mangione’s application to the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission. The roll call vote recorded ayes from Thomas, Evans, Holloway, Singleton and Turner and an abstention from Councilwoman Armistead; the motion carried.
The applicant said building permits could take approximately two months and license approvals four to eight weeks. She also said the floor plan would separate the cannabis store from a bar on the same parcel with a permanent wall and separate entrances as required by State law. Council took no further action beyond the letter of support; the applicant was advised to submit an affidavit for zoning approval and the required resolution to the State.
