The Council considered whether a Crescent Moon display to recognize Ramadan should be sited at the Borough complex on Gould Avenue or at Walker Park.
Councilwoman Suzanne Corbo asked why the placement was not at the Borough Complex on Gould Avenue; Council President Anthony Floria-Callori said Walker Park had been requested and reflects the park's role as a central community area. Councilman Arthur Rees noted Gould Avenue provides ample parking and Councilwoman Johanna Stroever made the motion to approve Resolution R-38-2026 recognizing the Crescent Moon at Walker Park in honor of Ramadan; Councilman Matthew Atlas seconded. The resolution carried unanimously with six affirmative votes.
The discussion included legal review from Borough Counsel Jarrid Kantor about permissible placement of religious vs. holiday symbols on Borough property.
