The sale of the Green Brook Country Club to a private developer and subsequent development plans drew multiple public comments and Council discussion.
Resident Denny Klein told the Council he circulated a petition to stop development at the Green Brook Country Club property and asked the Council to revive debate about overlay zoning (IRO vs. SIRO). Mayor Joshua H. Raymond said club members sold the property to a private developer, that a legal challenge to rezoning was dismissed and is currently under appeal, and encouraged the public to review the developer’s plans posted on the Borough website. Council President Anthony Floria-Callori said the borough’s agreement discharging a 12-acre land dedication was in exchange for more than a "$1.5million dollar donation" and included reductions in projected school children and infrastructure impacts.
Several council members and residents pressed for detail about meetings hosted at the offices of Richard Trenk and about the Tax Appeals Counsel appointment process; Mayor Raymond said a second RFQ process for Tax Appeals Counsel was still in progress and that the Trenk, Isabel firm had been the sole respondent to the first RFQ. Councilman Tilton asked for details regarding meetings held at Richard Trenk's office; Mayor Raymond said those meetings were held in office space shared by former Mayor Alessi.
