The borough introduced Ordinance 1271‑25 on first reading Feb. 3 to repeal and replace the existing facilities usage policy. Council members noted the change would move day‑to‑day decision‑making from the council to the recreation director and borough administrator for routine permit approvals.
One council member said the recreation director and commission have the subject‑matter knowledge to adjudicate field and facility requests, while the council would remain available for appeals or major policy questions. "This is basically moving the decision making from the council to the recreation director and borough administrator," a council member said during the discussion. The ordinance was introduced and scheduled for a final hearing at the borough’s February meeting, when residents will have another opportunity to comment.
