Sudan ISD board approves purchase of used 2023 activity bus after December crash

The Sudan Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 6-0 on Jan. 21, 2026, to purchase a used 2023 Ultra Coachliner DXL activity bus from National Bus Sales to replace Bus #33, which the minutes say was totaled after an accident in Cochran County in December 2025. Superintendent Scott Harrell presented the recommendation at a special meeting held in the district administration office.
Vice President Clay Carr moved to approve the superintendent's recommendation; Susan Baker seconded the motion and the vote was recorded as 6-0 in favor. Present for the vote were President Richard Salazar, Vice President Clay Carr, Secretary Ryan Netherland, Susan Baker, Joe Ky Shultz and Dustin Provence; Ryan Harper was listed as absent. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 6:15 p.m., with a benediction given by Joe Ky Shultz.
