The Sudan Independent School District board approved several governance and procurement items during its Dec. 8 meeting, voting 7-0 on each measure.
President Richard Salazar led review and adoption of the district’s annual Board Operating Procedures; Clay Carr moved adoption and Susan Baker seconded. The board also approved a set of new, concrete superintendent goals after a joint presentation by Salazar and Superintendent Scott Harrell (motion by Clay Carr, seconded by Ryan Netherland; vote 7-0). Finally, Harrell recommended advertising for bids for the district’s fire and casualty, fleet, and liability insurance; Susan Baker moved to advertise for bids, Joe Ky Shultz seconded, and the motion carried 7-0.
The meeting record does not include the full text of the operating procedures or the superintendent goals, nor does it list bid specifications or timelines. Board votes recorded the approvals and the instruction to proceed with public solicitation of insurance bids.
