Sudan ISD board rejects resolution to mandate prayer and Bible reading in schools

During discussion the board was reminded that "these things are already allowed by students and staff," and President Richard Salazar recommended maintaining the status quo rather than imposing a formal requirement. Clay Carr moved to reject the resolution; Ryan Netherland seconded and the motion carried 7-0. The rejected resolution was made part of the meeting minutes.
Board members did not adopt additional policy language at the meeting and no specific enforcement mechanism or disciplinary policy was introduced. The board's action preserves existing practice rather than imposing a new mandatory schedule for religious activity.
