Superintendent outlines strategic plan rollout, building-based coaching and community partnerships

Superintendent (S3) told the board the district is actively sharing its strategic plan with staff and communities after recent site visits to nutrition services, Huffleberry and Bernal Creek Elementary and Tri City.
"Supported, successful students and empowered and valued staff" are central to the work, S3 said, and the district will place instructional coaches in buildings so professional development is embedded and delivered "just in time" for teacher needs. The superintendent said the approach is intended to give extra support for many teachers who are new to the profession or have not completed full teacher preparation programs.
The superintendent also described Pillar 3 priorities around community partnerships, including efforts to establish after-school care at several sites and to bring addiction and mental-health partners into South County so services are more accessible to families. Staff said those partnerships are in early stages and will be refined as partners and schedules are confirmed.
