Students recognized: Finance Park simulation, robotics trophy and FBLA state trip plans

District leaders used their reports to highlight student programming and recent successes. Superintendent Penrod recounted attending an 8th-grade Finance Park event where students took part in budgeting and simulated adult roles; Penrod said the experience "was wonderful" and gave students practice with loans, budgeting and decision-making. He also noted a 5th-grade boat christening tradition and other classroom projects.
On extracurriculars, the robotics team earned a trophy at its first competition and is currently ranked near the regional cutoff; Penrod said the team is "doing a great job" and is headed to Wilsonville for regional events. The district also plans to send about 40 students to the FBLA state contest after spring break with hopes of national qualification. Staff and board members thanked volunteers and coaches who supported the programs.
