Seaside schools get $250,000 grant for emergency Conex boxes

The superintendent told the board the district received a grant from the Oregon Department of Human Services and Oregon Emergency Management for three 40-foot Conex boxes that will be filled with emergency supplies and stored for rapid deployment. "This was, about a $250,000 grant that we received," the superintendent said, adding the district contracted with a private company to pack and train staff on the equipment.
She said the district is one of only two areas along the Oregon Coast to receive the grant and that city and county officials visited the site on June 12 to review the equipment. The superintendent said the district is developing an agreement with the City of Seaside to share access outside school hours and to clarify responsibilities for use during events.
