Board adopts health curriculum, approves $122,279.27 materials purchase

The Seaside SD 10 board voted to adopt new health instructional materials for the district, approving digital and hardcover licenses for the elementary, middle and high school programs at a stated total cost of $122,279.27. Kate (speaker 5), presenting the adoption, said Oregon's updated 2023 health standards reduced the pool of available publishers and staff recommended continuing with the same program at the elementary school and recommended Goodheart and Wilcox for the middle school and Human Kinetics' Live Well Comprehensive Health at the high school.
Kate described the materials-selection process and availability for review: "The materials were on display here in the room in accordance with our board policy," and she emphasized the district had invited parents to view the materials prior to the vote. After a motion to approve the adoption was moved, seconded and called, the board approved the purchase and adoption by voice vote.
