VDOT outlines resurfacing schedule, secondary six‑year plan and bid re-advertisement

A Virginia Department of Transportation representative briefed the Nottoway Board on roadwork and the draft secondary six‑year plan for fiscal years through FY32. VDOT said one bid for the Maingate/Fort Pickett roundabout was rejected and the project will be re-advertised with a bid closing date of May 29.
The VDOT speaker listed resurfacing and surface-treatment work for several secondary routes (including portions of 307, 153 and 460) and described rural-rustic candidate roads that qualify for funding (minimum traffic thresholds apply). VDOT will send the board a list of routes proposed for resurfacing and asked the county to identify candidate roads for rural-rustic treatment. The board asked VDOT to compile a two‑week look-ahead and a history of completed projects to inform future decisions; VDOT agreed to circulate details for review prior to the county’s May meeting.
