The Eatontown Borough Council authorized an application to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for about $121,444 to fund repairs and restoration of the Wampum Park Gazebo. The work described in the application would include demolition and replacement of the concrete floor, electrical upgrades, replacement of light fixtures and roof shingles, replacement and attachment of wood railings and benches, and refinishing of all wood surfaces.
The resolution authorizes municipal officials to execute the grant agreement if an award is made and to expend funds pursuant to the grant terms. Councilmember Maria Escalante asked whether the grant is a matching program and Mayor Talerico responded that it is not.
