Sioux Falls district dedicates Community Campus space for 18–21 program funded by Wintrode family gift

Superintendent Knowles opened the dedication at the Southeast Tech campus, saying the district's Community Campus will "serve our 18 to 21 year olds under 1 roof so that they'd be able to go out and join the workforce and be productive citizens in our community." He credited the school board and partners for approving renovations and for choosing the site as the program's permanent home.
Vice President Gail Swanson and Dr. Nikki Whiting of the district described the program as focused on life skills, community integration and employment readiness. Swanson thanked the Wintrode family for the "Lucas P. Wintrode Learning Lab," saying the gift will "continue your vision of creating a campus culture where all students are valued for their individual strengths." The ceremony included a plaque presentation, a ribbon cutting with Lucas Wintrode and a guided tour of the renovated upper-level space led by Dr. Whiting.
Superintendent Knowles said the Community Campus will complement existing preschool and Southeast Tech programs and emphasized partnership roles with South Dakota State University and local technical education resources. After the dedication the district scheduled a short school board meeting and refreshments for attendees.
