Montrose council approves fee schedule and four utility rate increases, citing regional alignment

Staff told the council that at the budget meeting the council agreed to a 5% across-the-board increase for water, sewer, stormwater and wastewater rates. "Council had agreed back at our budget meeting for a 5% increase to each of the water, sewer, stormwater, and wastewater rates," the presenter said. Staff also noted conversations with nearby utilities to align rates ahead of a planned regionalization project in spring.
Council moved to approve Ordinance 2025-o7 and Resolution 2025-35 (authorizing summary publication) and separately approved Resolutions 2025-31 (water), 2025-32 (sewer), 2025-33 (stormwater) and 2025-34 (wastewater). Each motion carried by roll call with a reported 5-0 vote.
