Salvation Army expands Avalon services, signs up 73 local clients and seeks volunteers

Captain Jared Arnold of the Salvation Army'Greater Long Beach (speaker 21) gave the council a progress update on outreach and social services in Avalon. He said the Salvation Army began distribution work in December 2025, has enrolled roughly 73 local clients, and provides clothing, gift cards, case management and pathways to other partners for services the organization does not operate in-house.
"We now have, 73 individuals from the city, community members and residents who are now our clients," Captain Jared Arnold said. He asked the council and community partners to help with volunteer recruitment, local advisory board membership and logistics (for example, getting donated goods and staff housing across from the Mainland). The council and community health representatives welcomed the Salvation Army and encouraged the organization to attend upcoming nonprofit mixers and community resource fairs to increase local awareness.
