"the city of Avalon was successful in securing a grama in the amount of $2,480,000, for our South Beach restoration project," the city manager said during the announcement. Staff emphasized the award was highly competitive countywide and that the city will have substantial follow-up work on design, permitting and timing; the start date is not yet set and staff said they aim to sequence the project around harbor repairs and other planned work.
