City staff presented the final figures and said the only change from the preliminary budget was a $28 increase in Local Government Aid. "Our levy is increasing 13.77%," the presenter said, and staff gave examples of homeowner impacts: a $200,000 market-value home would see an increase of $93 annually, a $250,000 home $116.50, and a $300,000 home $139.80. Councilors asked about prior-year fluctuations in tax capacity, and staff attributed the 2025 dip to county-level changes and adjustments to homestead calculations.
The hearing drew no public comments, and Council then considered Resolution 2025-30 to authorize the final levy and budget. A councilor moved approval, the motion was seconded and passed by roll call (5-0). Council members thanked staff for the budget work.
The approval authorizes staff to publish and implement the adopted levy and budget. The council's next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2026.
