Mindee Mata, Director of Business Services, told the board the district's 2024'25 First Rating (based on 2023'24 data) was an 84, "which is considered a B and equals Above Standard Achievement." She told trustees the district scored 4 out of 10 on Indicator 7 for not having three months of cash on hand and 0 out of 10 on Indicator 9 for lacking funds to cover 60 days of expenditures. Mata said delayed Texas Education Agency payments this year worsened the district's cash timing: the last TEA payment arrives in August but is needed in May.
Trustees discussed the financial indicators but took no formal budget action at the Nov. 17 meeting. The cash shortfalls are reflected in state accountability indicators and will factor into near-term budget monitoring; Mata's presentation called attention to timing of state receipts and the potential need to plan for working capital when state payments arrive late.
