The Planning & Zoning Board on Jan. 6 approved a special exception allowing outdoor storage of equipment and materials at 321 N Hennis Road, tied to the previously approved variance allowing a 6‑foot fence to screen storage from Hennis Road. Planner Amber McDonald presented the request and staff recommended approval with conditions. During discussion, staff said that "all loose material stored outside cannot be stacked higher than 6‑feet" and that the tallest equipment in its resting position must be stored to the rear of the property; board members asked how cranes and tall, stackable items would be handled.
Board Member Will Hawthorne moved to approve the special exception and amend staff conditions to add that equipment "must be at its lowest possible position when at resting position." The motion, seconded by Mark Hide, carried unanimously, 7–0. The board recorded that the special exception will carry with the property, and staff reiterated that hours of operation in the I‑2 zoning district are not capped by code and that the site has historically used voluntary hours.
