City commission approved bylaw changes; Dade City historic board told to reapply

According to staff, the resolution reduces membership to seven (five direct appointments plus two at‑large), removes art alternate members, requires direct appointees to be city residents, and sets meetings to four per year (quarterly) starting May 2026. "There would be 5 direct appointments and 2 at large," the staff member said, and added that all members will be asked to reapply in March 2026 for reappointment by the City Commission. The staff presentation noted the quorum requirement would be four voting members.
Board members asked how ad‑hoc meetings would be handled; staff replied that special meetings could be called as needed. Several board members said the streamlining aligns with citywide bylaw updates and encouraged current members to consider reapplying.
