Waelder ISD honors staff and students; principals give attendance, UIL, testing updates

At the Dec. 15 meeting trustees heard campus reports on attendance, UIL, testing and graduation plans and recognized staff members Kimberly Valden and Johnny Hellums and students including Elijah Sustaita and Hannah Von Minden.
Board President Dora Noyola opened the Dec. 15 regular meeting and the board recognized staff and students in its December Spotlight. Elementary Principal Sharon Talbert and Secondary Principal Traci Talley presented the recognitions: Kimberly Valden and Johnny Hellums were honored as spotlight staff, and students Elijah Sustaita and Hannah Von Minden were recognized; two students were noted as absent but recognized (Kenya Benitez and Herlinda Godinez).
The principals also delivered campus reports. Talbert updated the board on elementary attendance and UIL; Talley reported on secondary attendance, campus events, UIL and sports. School counselor Sarah Lott provided an update on testing and graduation plans. The superintendent added operational updates on the district's electric bus project, grounds maintenance and an upcoming staff and board Christmas luncheon.
The minutes present these items as informational reports; no motions or votes were recorded on the campus updates or recognitions.
