Troup ISD lays out academic goal to exceed state averages, explains curriculum alignment choice

Stephen Cooksey presented the district’s academic plan and said the district "has a goal to exceed the state average by at least 5% in every tested area" while providing a core enrichment curriculum that includes technology. He told trustees the district tracks each student and assessment to identify TEKS that need reteaching.
Cooksey said Bluebonnet was chosen at the elementary level because of vertical alignment and lesson rigor; he added secondary Bluebonnet materials are still in development and could be available for middle school grades by 2029. The board received the presentation; curriculum adoptions and implementation timelines will follow district processes.
