County board tables ordinance that would reduce number of election judges
Summary
After discussion about a shortage of election judges, the board moved to table an ordinance that would reduce the number of judges in certain elections; the motion to table passed 8–0.
Chairman Travis Phelps moved to approve an ordinance reducing the number of election judges in emergency referendum, odd-year regular elections, certain special primary elections, and special elections; the motion was seconded by Josh Roe. After discussion, and concerns about the lack of available election judges, Phelps moved to table the ordinance and the board voted to table it 8–0.
No vote on the underlying ordinance was taken; the item remains tabled for future action pending further consideration and planning to address recruitment of election judges.
