Taft ISD board adopts policy updates and adds law-firm retainers

The Taft ISD Board of Trustees approved a package of governance and legal items during its Sept. 23 meeting, adopting legislative policy updates, board operating procedures and new retainer agreements for outside counsel.
The board approved legislative policy updates to LEGAL and LOCAL policies, including FD (LOCAL), FM (LOCAL), FNCE (LOCAL) and EFB (LOCAL). Trustees also approved the Board Operating Procedures, which include Core Beliefs, Board Priorities and a Code of Ethics. Those motions were recorded in the minutes as passing unanimously.
Separately, trustees approved adding Walsh Gallegos (annual retainer) and Thompson Horton, LLP as attorneys/counselors to serve Taft ISD in addition to existing counsel JCA Law, PLLC. The motion on legal services was made by Paul Luis Trevif1o and seconded by Nicole Garza and recorded as passed 7'0''00.
