Board approves multi-year salary increases for county clerk and treasurer

The Moultrie County Board adopted two resolutions on April 9 to set multi-year salary schedules for elected county offices. Both resolutions set the base salary for FY2027 at $72,000 with a 4% increase in FY2028 and fixed increments in FY2029 and FY2030; each also specifies the annual statutory stipend of $6,500.
Josh Roe moved the resolutions. Roe said he appreciated the committee's work on the proposals: "Roe thanked everyone for the time they put into this." The Clerk/Recorder salary resolution passed on a roll call vote, 6-1, with Chairman Travis Phelps voting no. The Treasurer/Collector resolution passed 5-2, with Phelps and Joe Wallis voting no. Discussion included comments about salary parity with comparable county offices and a suggestion by Ralph Zancha to set the salary for the four-year term pacing with elections.
The resolutions reference statutory stipend authority (Section 4-6001 for the Clerk/Recorder and Section 3-10007 for the Treasurer/Collector) and will be implemented according to the schedule set by the board.
