WHARTON ISD trustees voted unanimously on July 9 to approve an amended resolution designating an expanded Sunroper Reinvestment Zone. Attorney Michelle Alcala updated the board on the Sunroper Project and presented the amended expansion; Vice President Dr. Garland Novosad moved to approve the updated resolution and Millard Stains seconded the motion. The motion "was approved unanimously 4-0," with Millard Stains, Garland Novosad, Lisa Morton-Perez and Robert Vandagriff recorded as voting Aye.
The board took the vote during a special meeting called to order at 5:08 p.m. Secretary Lisa Morton-Perez read the social contract earlier in the meeting. The minutes note that the resolution expansion was an amendment to the original resolution; no public comments were recorded on the item. The minutes were approved on July 16, 2026, and list Lisa Morton Perez as Secretary of the Board.
