High School Principal Jake Jackson told the board the district uses Arp ISD for DAEP services for junior high and high school students. Jackson said the provider increased its price by about $1,000 this year but added that operating a DAEP in-house would require a separate facility, certified teachers, and additional staff. "Therefore, in the long run, it is cheaper for us to contract with Arp ISD for these services at $32,500 instead of trying to do it ourselves," the minutes record.
Chris Pratt moved to approve the 2026–27 DAEP memorandum of understanding between West Rusk CCISD and Arp ISD; Iris Hammontree seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously among members present.
