The West Rusk County Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees formally recognized the West Rusk High School marching band for earning first place at the UIL State Marching Band competition. Superintendent Lawrence Coleman opened the recognition and introduced Band Director Grady Haffner, who provided details of the competition day and thanked district leadership for ongoing support.
Haffner presented each board member with a UIL gold medal to mark the achievement and expressed gratitude for the band program's staff and community support. The board and audience recited the Pledge of Allegiance earlier in the meeting; Vice President Matthew Eastwood had announced the meeting was properly posted and would be audio recorded.
