The Spring Valley City Council voted to purchase a used ABI turf machine from Traqnology of Ladd, Illinois, for $28,499 to service Foley Field and the planned new baseball diamonds. The motion to approve the purchase (#15347) passed unanimously on March 16, 2026.
Alderman Dave Pellegrini described the machine as a necessary long-term item and said the used machine included local training from the current owner, making it a cost-effective choice compared with a new machine priced at about $44,587. "He compared the machines and they are apple to apple and very efficient," Pellegrini said in the minutes.
