The board presented a dedicated service award to outgoing Trustee Jesse Trevino and invited him to speak. Trevino thanked the community for support during his four years of service and reflected on district efforts during a turbulent period.
In his remarks Trevino said he was assaulted about two months earlier and characterized the incident as "politically based" in connection with the forensic audit process. He said the audits helped enforce checks and balances and urged continuation of such reviews: "Luckily, we we finished off with, doctor Herrera here as our superintendent... And so in the future, I really hope that, you know, they continue with the with these audits because it keeps people in line. It keeps checks and balances for the district." No additional evidence or responses to the assault allegation appear in the transcript.
