Weslaco ISD board certifies Nov. 5 trustee election returns; certificates to be issued

An official read vote totals aloud for the contested places: the transcript records Place 1 totals ("Joel Rivera had a total of 6,562 votes; Erice Erna 6006 36; Duffy Cardenas 3,119"), Place 2 totals for Mark De Los Santos (transcript reads "13009 0 2") and Place 3 totals where Jackie Sustaita was recorded as the winner. After the reading, the board moved to approve the order; a motion and second were recorded and the board approved by voice vote.
The board president asked members to signify approval by saying "I" when called by name; multiple trustees responded "aye" and the chair announced the motion passes. The board then proceeded to administer oaths of office to the newly elected trustees.
