Principal Jermaine Cantu presented Mrs. Kane’s report to the board on Nov. 10, providing enrollment, assessment and activity updates.
Cantu reported elementary enrollment at 231 students. He listed testing dates: RLA benchmark for grades 3–5 occurred Nov. 4; math benchmark for the same grades is scheduled for Nov. 11; fifth-grade science benchmark is Nov. 13. He also noted a three-week grade check Nov. 21, three-week progress reports to go home on Dec. 2, and Thanksgiving Break scheduled Nov. 25–Dec. 1.
Cantu highlighted extracurricular and achievement updates. He said 40 students took the ACT on campus Nov. 4–6 and that Wellington Elementary will host the UIL Zone Academic Meet on Dec. 8. On FFA results, he reported Bailey Page placed first in Senior Creed Speaking and qualified for Area; the team of Bailey Page, Heather Peters and Jace Darrow placed second in Farm Business Radio and qualified for Area; and Kenady Skelton, Audrey Bowen, Hunter Hedrick and Anna Henard placed first as a team in Senior Quiz and will advance to Area competition.
