Superintendent outlines January meeting, training and staffing change; safety audit clears elementary

Superintendent Kurt Ashmore addressed the Wellington ISD Board on planning and district operations during the Nov. 10 meeting.
Ashmore said the district’s regular January board meeting will be held Jan. 12, 2026, at 7:00 a.m., and the board will attempt to hold Team of Eight training immediately after the meeting. He also noted the Fall School Board Conference is available in person at Region 16 in Amarillo or virtually by Zoom. On safety, Ashmore reported that the School Safety & Security intruder audit at the elementary school “went well with no findings.”
On personnel, Ashmore reported that Cathy Andrews has resigned and that Amanda Wiebe has been hired to replace her; Wiebe’s start date is Nov. 17, 2025. He also provided a UIL Legislative Council update and noted the district will broadcast the upcoming Thursday playoff game on the Skyrockets Sports Network.
