Principals report testing, calendars and Homecoming plans to Wellington ISD board

During the principals’ report on Sept. 8, campus leaders summarized start‑of‑year assessments, staff training and near‑term calendar events across Wellington ISD.
Deidre Kane reported that beginning‑of‑year TPRI testing for kindergarten through second grade is wrapping up, teachers have completed IXL pre‑tests in reading and math and are working on science, and the first day of the Opportunity Center is Sept. 15. She also listed campus events including a first‑grade parent meeting, a grandparents’ celebration for Head Start/Pre‑K, and a Rocking, Rolling & Reading AR party and early dismissal on Sept. 19.
In the junior‑high update, Principal Shannon Fisher noted enrollment of 118, teacher completion of TTESS Part I, creation of student council and ongoing pre‑testing for RLA and math. At the high school, Jermaine Cantu reported enrollment of 168, Homecoming week activities and a senior CPR/First Aid session led by Samantha Blacksher required for graduation. The minutes record these as informational reports; the board did not take separate action on the items during the meeting.
