Board documents list Level One courses covered by the standard: 6th‑grade Advanced Math; 7th‑grade Advanced Math; 8th‑grade Algebra I (8th Advanced Math); AP Economics; dual‑credit courses; Physics; Pre‑AP Algebra I; Pre‑AP Algebra II; Pre‑AP Biology; Pre‑AP Chemistry; Pre‑AP English 1; Pre‑AP English 2; Pre‑AP Geometry; Pre‑Calculus; and Spanish 3. The change was made “as recommended by Shannon Fisher, junior high principal, and Jermaine Cantu, high school principal,” according to the motion language.
Administrators said the standard aligns eligibility with classroom expectations and was presented as a recommendation from building principals. The motion carried unanimously; the minutes record no further discussion or dissent. The decision will apply to UIL participation and is recorded as an official board action.
