Superintendent reports safety upgrades, Head Start hire and TASB interview

Superintendent Kurt Ashmore told the board the district has hired Andi Duke as an aide for Head Start and that new access points have been installed across campuses. Mr. Ashmore said the district will use remaining safety grant money to purchase safety equipment required by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and highlighted a range of summer maintenance projects, including repaired and repainted tables and water-sealing of brick at the Junior High and High School.
Mr. Ashmore also reported that Wellington ISD will begin its second year in TIA data collection and that guardian training will be conducted. He told the board he will travel to Austin on Aug. 22 for a second interview for Superintendent of the Year with the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). The minutes include a commendation of the maintenance and custodial crew for summer work preparing campuses for the new school year.
