WEIMAR ISD board extends Superintendent Chase Seelke’s contract to 2029 and alters benefits

The WEIMAR ISD Board of Trustees voted on Jan. 12 to extend Superintendent Chase Seelke’s employment contract by one year, moving the contract term to 2029. The extension was approved in open session after a closed-session evaluation; the motion to extend was made by Trustee Jeremy Maupin and seconded by Trustee Joni VanHouten. The vote was recorded with six trustees voting yes and one member, Tom Strickland, absent.
The board then approved an amendment to Seelke’s contract that removes the travel and cell-phone allowances and adds a provision for the district to pay 60% of the superintendent’s TRS member contributions. That amendment passed on a motion by Trustee April Mikulenka, seconded by Trustee Brian Christen, with the same recorded attendance (Strickland absent). The actions followed the board’s closed-session discussion of the superintendent evaluation and contract consideration earlier in the evening.
