Wellington ISD board proposes 2025 tax rate of $0.6810, schedules Aug. 25 public hearing

The Wellington Independent School District Board of Education on Aug. 11, 2025 voted unanimously to set a proposed 2025 tax rate of $0.6810. The motion was made by Lance Kane and seconded by Mark Lemons and carried by all members present.
The board also set a public hearing on the district's proposed 2025–2026 budget and the $0.6810 tax rate for Monday, Aug. 25, 2025 at noon in the superintendent's office. Gene Pena made the motion to schedule the hearing, seconded by Lance Kane, and the motion carried unanimously. The hearing will be the formal opportunity for taxpayers to comment before the board considers final adoption.
