The Weatherford Independent School District Board of Trustees on Feb. 9 voted to name Patricia Melendez Interim Chief Financial Officer and accepted the voluntary retirement agreement of Superintendent Dr. Beau Rees.
"Jeff Ford moved to name Patricia Melendez as Interim Chief Financial Officer," the minutes state; the motion was seconded by Brian Catlin and carried with votes from Catlin, Feriend, Ford, Guest, Lucia, Wallace and Woods. Later in the meeting Dan Woods moved to accept Dr. Rees's voluntary retirement agreement; Adam Feriend seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Melendez had been listed in the meeting materials as Executive Director of Finance. The board did not provide a timetable in the minutes for a permanent CFO search or an effective date for the interim appointment. The minutes record no public comment on either personnel action.
Board President Mike Guest presided over the session, which reconvened in open session at 6:54 p.m. after an executive session on personnel, student discipline, safety and security, property and attorney consultation.
