Village staff report retail and redevelopment activity: 7 Brew approved, Ulta remodeling, sale at 8001 Edgewater

Community Development Director Pete Hughes presented a December activity report covering several local projects. Hughes said River Nail Salon will seek a certificate of occupancy soon and staff will coordinate a ribbon cutting; 7 Brew has been approved by the Village Board and Planning Commission and building permit applications are under review; Ulta Beauty has requested rough inspections for an interior remodel and is anticipated to open in the first or second quarter of 2026.
Hughes also reported that the Gable apartments at 8001 Edgewater were sold in late December. Staff are working with the new owner on redevelopment of the building as revitalized multi-family housing after roughly three years of vacancy and ongoing code enforcement. Hughes' report included routine items such as completed sign inspections and updates to 2024 building and safety code changes.
