Trustees press for timing on Des Plaines lighting and red-light cameras; mayor says cameras could take three years

Trustee Vince Tricoci asked Public Works Director Vince Ranieri for a status update on the Des Plaines Avenue lighting project, which staff reported has completed foundation work, conduit installation and concrete restoration with pole delivery expected in early January and installation to follow. "All conduit was directional bored at each location including to the future Village Sign in the median of Desplaines Ave," the Public Works report notes.
Tricoci also asked when red-light cameras will be installed at Harlem and Cermak. Mayor Mengoni told the board the camera project could take up to three years and asked Ranieri to reach out to the Illinois Department of Transportation to review signal timing at intersections, which the mayor said appears to be causing traffic backups.
