The WHARTON ISD Board of Trustees held a public hearing on the 2026–27 fiscal-year budget and adopted the district's General Fund, Debt Service Fund and Food Service Fund budgets on June 25, 2026. Business Office Manager Cheryl Hooper provided updates to the previously presented budget and the board voted to adjourn the public hearing unanimously after the presentation.
Molli Bodungen, the district's Director of Curriculum & Instruction, also reviewed the district's ESSA federal grant funds during the hearing, describing the grant amount, program limitations and anticipated uses for the funds. Dr. Garland Novosad moved to adjourn the public hearing and Lisa Morton-Perez seconded; the motion passed 7–0 and the public hearing was recorded as adjourned at 6:18 p.m. The adopted budget and associated budget amendments were included on the consent agenda later approved by the board.
