The Wharton Independent School District Board of Trustees canvassed and certified the results of the May 2, 2026 general election during its May 12 meeting. Board President Garland Novosad formally canvassed and certified the returns after results were read by Lisa Morton‑Perez and Philip Henderson.
Following certification, Nicole Snow, secretary to the board, administered the Oath of Office to the three newly elected trustees: Robert Vandagriff (Position No. 5), Millard Stains (Position No. 6) and Curtis Evans (Position No. 7). The swearing-in completed the formal transition for those seats ahead of the board’s reorganization.
The certification and oath were recorded on the meeting minutes and preceded the reorganization votes that elected district officers later in the same session.
