The Infrastructure & Environment Committee recommended a change order not to exceed $70,668 to continue environmental remediation at the former gas station site at 5 W. Palatine Road. Staff said the village acquired the property and the prior owner's lender provided funds in escrow to cover remediation costs; the scope includes excavation of lead-impacted material, chemical oxidation to address benzene groundwater impacts, sampling to confirm remediation success, and documentation with the Illinois EPA.
"The proposed change order tonight as with all prior [work is] fully funded by the prior owner's environmental escrow," staff said. The committee recommended approval and the item was placed on the consent agenda for council action.
